Dated May 23, 1929, this glass negative pairs Herbert Hoover with the Linen Supply Association, and it was made about two months after he took office as president. The National Photo Company, a Washington studio that recorded official and public life in the capital for decades, produced it. Its catalog title comes from unverified data written on the negative sleeve, so the subject line is worth checking against other sources. The glass shows streaks and blemishes from the breakdown of its original coating, a common sign of age in negatives from this period.
