Dated May 8, 1929, this glass negative pairs Herbert Hoover with the Interstate Post Graduate Association, only a couple of months into his presidency, which began that March. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., studio that recorded officials and public events in the early twentieth century, made the exposure on glass, the standard medium of the day. The negative shows streaks and blemishes from deterioration of its original coating, a common condition in plates of this age.
