Few posters from the 1950s pair New York's skyscrapers with an Irish airplane as directly as this color lithograph does. It was printed in Dublin by Browne and Nolan and designed by Adolph Treidler, an American illustrator who worked extensively in commercial and travel advertising. The date range places it in the years when transatlantic flight was becoming a practical option for Irish travelers, and the poster presents the two places as neighbors across the ocean. Its large format was typical of the display posters that airlines and travel agencies used in shop windows and terminals.
