A Copenhagen firm, Dyva & Jeppesens A/S, printed this color poster in 1952 to advertise *Belle of New York* in Denmark, a sign of how far American studio musicals traveled in the postwar years. The MGM film, starring Fred Astaire and Vera-Ellen, is a romantic musical set in Manhattan in the 1890s, and it drew on the nostalgia for that period that Hollywood had long been feeding audiences. At 85 by 62 centimeters, the poster was built to catch the eye on a street wall, with the bold color typical of film advertising of the era.
