The Fyfe Building appears here in two glass-plate negatives, both made in 8 by 10 inch format between about 1910 and 1920 by the Detroit Publishing Company, which produced large numbers of city and landscape views for sale to the public. The company's photographers recorded Detroit as it expanded rapidly during the early automobile boom, when new office blocks were rising in the downtown core. The two negatives are variants of the same view, and the building's height is noted on the plate, a detail that makes the set useful for studying commercial architecture of the period.
