The Bagley Memorial Fountain anchors the foreground of this view of Campus Martius, the open plaza in downtown Detroit where several streets meet. Beyond it stand City Hall and the Majestic Building, two prominent landmarks on the square in the early 1900s. The image is an 8 x 10 inch glass negative made by the Detroit Publishing Company, which photographed the city extensively for sale as souvenir views. It was originally one section of a panorama, and the companion section is not held here, so the wider scene survives only in part.
