A conference room called Memorial Hall, at the Frederick Stearns & Co. laboratory in Detroit, is the subject of this view, recorded on an 8 by 10 inch glass dry plate. Stearns was a Detroit drug manufacturer, founded in the 1860s, that grew into a major pharmaceutical firm and became one of the city's best-known industrial employers. The Detroit Publishing Company, which sold views like this one as postcards and prints, photographed the firm sometime between 1905 and 1915.
