Among the tobacco cards in the Edwards Collection, this one stands out for its white borders, the feature that gives the T206 series its collectors' nickname. The American Tobacco Company issued the set between 1909 and 1911, packing the cards into cigarette packages as a stiff, collectible bonus for smokers. Running to hundreds of players, the series is the best known of its era, and its color halftone images over relief-printed designs are now studied by collectors and historians alike.
