The white border variant of the T206 set stands out among the tobacco cards in this collection because its plain frame sets off the color portrait at the center. The American Tobacco Company issued the set around 1909 to 1911 and packed the cards with its cigarettes as stiffeners and collectibles, which is a major reason so many survive today. Printed in relief with halftone and color, the card reflects the commercial lithography of the era. The Library holds it as part of the Benjamin K. Edwards Collection of baseball cards.
