The white border that gives this card its title is the feature that sets it apart from other cards on the board. The Library's staff devised the name, so it describes the card's appearance rather than an original label. The card comes from the T206 series, issued by the American Tobacco Company between 1909 and 1911 as a stiff insert in cigarette packs. The set is among the largest of its era, with more than 500 cards featuring major and minor league players, and it is now one of the most studied sets in early baseball collecting. This example is part of the Benjamin K. Edwards Collection of baseball cards held by the Library of Congress.
