Newmann's Wonderful Spirit Mysteries is a large color lithograph poster, about 77 by 56 centimeters, advertising a stage act built on séance-style illusions. It was printed by the Donaldson Lithographing Company of Newport, Kentucky, a firm known for bold theatrical and circus posters, and the date is an estimate of about 1911. Spirit acts like this drew crowds in the early 1900s, when public interest in spiritualism and mediums was high and magicians often staged apparitions and mind-reading tricks as entertainment. The poster belongs to the McManus-Young Collection of magic materials at the Library of Congress.
