Billed as "the famous Newmann, the great American hypnotist and mind-reader," this color lithograph promoted a stage performer in the hypnosis and mentalism acts that filled vaudeville houses in the 1920s. The Great Western Printing Co. of St. Louis produced large runs of theatrical posters like this one, which touring performers could often localize with their own dates and venues. Its bold color and oversized sheet, about 71 by 55 centimeters, were designed to catch passersby on city streets and in theater lobbies.
