This color lithograph poster advertised a performer billed as "Newmann the Great," and its imprint places its production in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1929. Posters like this were the main advertising tool for traveling magicians and stage entertainers of the period, who arrived in a town, pasted up bills on storefronts and fences, and relied on bold color and large lettering to draw crowds. The record credits the printer, Standard, but says little more about the performer, so the poster is best read as a surviving example of how touring magic was promoted in the late 1920s.
