Crosbyside was a lakeside spot on Lake George in New York's Adirondack foothills, and this view shows its shoreline as summer visitors of the early 1900s would have known it. The Detroit Publishing Company made this 8 x 10 inch glass negative, probably between 1900 and 1906, when the firm was producing large numbers of scenic views of resorts, rivers, and mountain country. Lake George drew tourists by steamboat and rail from New York and Albany, and its shore resorts were a major part of the company's catalog. The picture is valuable as a record of how a popular resort landscape was framed for travelers of the period.
