Eduardo Monedo and Luis M. Monrones, identified in the record as being from Mexico, are the named subjects of this glass negative. The date of about 1925 is inferred from other negatives in the same range, and the names come from data the National Photo Company wrote on the negative or its sleeve, which has not been independently verified. That studio, based in Washington, D.C., made many portraits and documentary views in the early twentieth century, and this negative came to the Library of Congress as a 1947 gift from Herbert A. French. Streaks and blemishes visible on the glass result from deterioration in its original coatings.
