Catchers Bill Carrigan of the Boston Red Sox and Chief Meyers of the New York Giants are pictured together at the Polo Grounds, the Giants' home park, during the 1912 World Series. The series pitted Boston against New York and ran to eight games after one contest ended in a tie, with Boston winning the championship. The glass negative comes from the Bain News Service, a New York agency whose pictures document much of the news and sports life of the period. Baseball researchers at the Society for American Baseball Research assigned the title and date in 2006, based on research into the original caption.
