Henri French, billed in this 1899 color lithograph as "the world renowned," takes center stage on a poster for the Joseph Hart Vaudeville Company, advertised as coming direct from Weber & Fields Music Hall in New York City. Weber & Fields was one of the best-known variety houses of its day, where Joe Weber and Lew Fields built a reputation for broad comedy and sketch acts that toured well beyond Broadway. The sheet was printed by the Courier Litho. Co. of Buffalo, New York, a firm that produced many theatrical posters around 1900.
