At roughly 215 by 102 centimeters, this color lithograph was built to be seen from across a street, and its title names a show, *A Day and a Night in New York*, tied to the playwright Charles Hale Hoyt (1859-1900). Hoyt was known for comic stage works in the 1890s, and the sheet names Hoyt & McKee as proprietors. The Strobridge Lithographing Company, which printed theatrical bills in Cincinnati and New York, produced it in 1898, and its bold, flat colors reflect the style used to advertise touring productions to audiences around the country.
