This picture shows the town of Jefferson, Wisconsin, not the third president, though the town takes its name from Thomas Jefferson, which explains its place on this board. Jefferson is the seat of Jefferson County in the southeastern part of the state, and small Midwestern county towns like it were often photographed for local businesses, civic records and commercial views. The shelflist card names the firm Kurz & Seifert in connection with the print, but that attribution is unverified, and the card gives no date.
