Col. Guy D. Goff is the subject of this September 1924 view taken at the White House, a date the caption gives in brackets because part of its wording has worn away. The National Photo Company, which made many portraits and views in Washington in the early twentieth century, recorded visitors and officials like him on large glass negatives. Because the plate is glass, it may show streaks and blemishes from deterioration in its original coatings, which is worth keeping in mind when judging fine detail.
