Oyster Bay, on the north shore of Long Island, was where Theodore Roosevelt kept his summer home at Sagamore Hill, and this view shows one of the offices he used there. In 1908, his last full year in the presidency, he often conducted official business from the area when he was away from Washington. The negative belongs to the George Grantham Bain Collection, made by a New York news photo service that supplied pictures to newspapers. The title comes from the agency's caption cards and has not been independently verified.
