Madison Square Garden in New York hosted the National Horse Show for many years, drawing riders, owners, and spectators to its arena. This 1911 glass negative from the George Grantham Bain Collection shows that setting, though its title comes from caption data the Bain News Service recorded and has not been independently verified. Bain's agency sold news photographs to New York newspapers in the early twentieth century, so its plates record how the city's events were documented at the time. Viewers can look for the crowds, the horses, and the arena's layout.
