Its title points to Charles Dickens's novella *A Christmas Carol*, published in December 1843, a story that did much to shape how Victorian England and later America imagined the holiday. The tale follows the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, who is visited by three spirits and shown his past, his present, and the future that awaits him. Dickens helped popularize ideas of generosity, family gatherings, and festive goodwill that still define many Christmas traditions. The record offers few other details, so the picture is best read as a response to that enduring story.
