Titled simply *The Christmas Carol*, this print will call to mind Charles Dickens's 1843 novella, whose tale of Ebenezer Scrooge helped shape the modern picture of a warm, family-centered holiday. The record does not say whether the image illustrates that story or a sung carol, and it gives no date. The card lists the associated name as Hatch Litho. Co., a commercial lithography firm, though that attribution is unverified. Commercial color lithographs like this were widely produced for holiday cards and seasonal sheets in the decades after Dickens wrote.
