This contact-sheet frame shows Mickey Mantle at home, not on the diamond: he holds a football while his sons try to pull it away from him. The picture was photographed by Thomas R. Koeniges and added to the library of *Look* magazine, which ran photo essays on public figures' private lives, on September 27, 1968. That was late in Mantle's career with the New York Yankees, and the informal scene offers a contrast to the ballpark images that made him famous. As a contact-sheet frame, it also shows the sequence of shots the photographer took before choosing the prints that ran.
