This glass negative records an airship connected with Detroit and Cleveland, though the title comes from unverified notes the Bain News Service wrote on the negative or its caption card, and no date is given. The Bain agency supplied news photographs to newspapers in the early twentieth century and documented many aerial novelties of that era, when airships still drew large crowds. Lighter-than-air craft of the 1900s and 1910s were often presented to the public as spectacles, and a picture like this shows how such flights were framed for readers. Because the record is thin, the exact flight, its date and its organizers remain uncertain.
