Medicine Song" is the title Woody Crumbo gave this color silkscreen, which the Library of Congress dates to about 1952. Crumbo, a Potawatomi artist from Oklahoma, drew on Native ceremonial life for much of his work, and the catalog headings point to the spiritual practice, dress and healers his scene depicts. The piece was registered for copyright, which is why the record carries a Copyright Office number. Its screen-printed color shows how Crumbo adapted Indigenous subjects to the modern print media of the mid-20th century.
