Cataloged as "Peace Offering," this silkscreen is dated to about 1952 and filed under Native American spiritual life. Woody Crumbo, a Potawatomi artist from Oklahoma, drew much of his work from ceremonial traditions of the Woodland and Plains peoples, and he took up silkscreen in the 1950s to reach wider audiences than single paintings allowed. The print's record also notes its registration with the U.S. Copyright Office, a reminder of how such works were circulated and protected at the time. The title points to ritual exchange, a theme that recurs in his art of this period.
