Texas built its own pavilion on the grounds of the 1893 fair, and this lithograph preserves the design as J. Riely Gordon, the San Antonio architect who drew it, presented it. The World's Columbian Exposition in Jackson Park marked the four hundredth anniversary of Columbus's voyage, and states and territories paid for their own buildings to display their resources and character. The print appeared in the *Inland Architect and News Record* in September 1893, while the fair was still open, so it shows how the building was introduced to architects and readers that season.
