Basketball, rather than a clinic or hospital, anchors this Chicago poster, which pairs a sporting image with the urging to make your health points by getting tested. Tuberculosis was a serious killer in American cities during the 1930s, and public health campaigns used posters like this to push people toward screening. The Federal Art Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, sponsored the work, and its silkscreen printing allowed bold color runs for wide distribution. A April 1939 date stamped on the back suggests the sheet stayed in use for several years after its 1936 design date.
