A Pennsylvania State Council of Defense poster urging residents to get their air raid protection equipment now, this piece was designed by Zebedee Johnson under the Federal Art Project, part of the Works Progress Administration. It appeared in 1941, while war raged in Europe and American cities were preparing for the possibility of bombing. The poster reflects the civil defense drills and home preparations that communities across Pennsylvania were encouraged to adopt. Its bold silkscreen color was typical of government posters of the period, which were meant to catch the eye quickly in public spaces.
