Unlike the photographs elsewhere on this board, this item is a drawing: a section, meaning a view cut straight through a building to show its interior arrangement, rendered in ink on paper. It is catalogued as a reference copy in the Prints and Photographs Division and belongs to the Library's architectural and engineering drawings. The Library's main building, now called the Jefferson Building, was designed by John L. Smithmeyer and Paul J. Pelz and completed in 1897, so a drawing like this one records how its rooms, halls and dome were planned to fit together.
