Two men, identified in the title only as Wilbur and Admiral Wilson, are the subject of this glass negative dated May 2, 1924, though the record does not say who they were or what brought them together. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., firm active through the 1910s and 1920s, made a large volume of news and portrait pictures of public figures and events, many intended for quick reproduction in newspapers. Glass plates of this kind were prone to streaks and other blemishes as their original coatings deteriorated, so some marks on this one reflect the plate's age rather than the scene itself.
