Evangeline Booth, who led the Salvation Army in the United States from 1904 to 1934, appears here with a man identified as Wilbur, in a glass negative dated April 26, 1924. The title comes from unverified data written on the negative sleeve by the National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., studio. Herbert A. French gave the plate to the Library of Congress in 1947, and its catalog notes warn of streaks and blemishes from the natural deterioration of the original coating, so some marks may be damage rather than detail.
