Saint-Augustin stands on the Boulevard Malesherbes in Paris's 8th arrondissement, and its iron framework beneath the stone walls was unusual for a church of its era. Victor Baltard designed it in the 1860s, and its dome became a familiar feature of the city's skyline. This print uses the photochrom process, a Swiss method that layered several stone impressions to produce soft color. The Detroit Publishing Company issued it in the 1890s and early 1900s as part of a catalog of French views sold to American buyers.
