The title Coltiletti is the most specific detail in this record, and it was written on the negative or its sleeve by the National Photo Company, though the Library of Congress flags that label as unverified. The glass negative is dated roughly 1918 to 1920, when the Washington, D.C., firm was producing large numbers of pictures on a wide range of subjects for commercial sale. Glass plates were fragile, and this one shows streaks and blemishes from deterioration of its original coating, a common condition in negatives of this age. It entered the Library's collection as a 1947 gift from Herbert A. French.
