A horse-drawn tram crossing De Koningsbrug fills the foreground of this 1890s view of Rotterdam, with a castle rising in the distance. The image appears in a souvenir album published by A. Jager of Amsterdam, a firm that sold views of Dutch cities to travelers. In the 1890s, horse-drawn trams were a common sight in Dutch towns, and they shared streets and bridges with carts and foot traffic. The caption information comes from an older card and has not been independently verified, so the exact date and bridge details are best treated as approximate.
