Two unidentified men stand with J.W. Teveley in this glass negative dated January 25, 1924, and the record does not say who they were or what brought them together. The picture belongs to the National Photo Company Collection, the work of a Washington, D.C., commercial studio that documented residents, events and street life in the capital in the early decades of the twentieth century. Viewers should note the streaks and spots on the glass, which come from the natural deterioration of the original emulsion coatings rather than from anything in the scene itself.
