Unlike many fish pictures from the period, this poster names a specific destination: the aquarium in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park. Made in 1936 as a color woodcut, it belongs to the Works Progress Administration's poster program, which used eye-catching graphics to encourage residents and visitors to use public attractions. The notes credit the Federal Writers Project as sponsor, and a date stamp on the back reads August 4, 1937. Its bold, flat shapes of fish and water show how the woodcut style could turn an ordinary outing into an appealing invitation.
