Yachts moored along the Lake Michigan shore, with the clubhouse on the right, set this view of the Columbia Yacht Club apart from the other Chicago waterfront scenes on the board. The Detroit Publishing Company, which issued many views of American cities and resorts in the early twentieth century, likely made this 8 by 10 inch glass negative around 1907, and the company's catalog number is recorded with it. The print is attributed as possibly by Hans Behm, whose name appears in the record. Images like this show how Chicago's lakefront had become a center for recreational sailing by that time.
