Lahti's tenth poster biennial, held in 1993, gives this promotional sheet its particular identity, and the title also names Kujasalo, a site tied to the event. The Lahti biennial, begun in 1984, became one of the leading international showcases for poster design, drawing entries from many countries and treating the poster as serious visual art. The Library of Congress holds this example as a gift. It is a chromolithograph printed at a large 120 by 80 centimeters, a size meant to be read from across a street. Its bold color reflects the 1990s practice of promoting cultural events through strong, reduced graphic imagery.
