Printed in 1971 for the fourth International Poster Biennale in Warsaw, this poster carries the event's title in its heading and was designed by Henryk Tomaszewski, a leading figure in Polish graphic arts. The Warsaw Biennale, first held in 1966 and staged every two years, drew entries from designers in many countries and helped establish Poland's reputation for inventive, witty poster design. Posters from this period often relied on bold simplification and clever visual ideas rather than heavy text, a tradition worth noticing here.
