This color lithograph carries the slogan "Jugend dient dem Führer" (Youth serves the Führer) and an explicit call to enroll every ten-year-old in the Hitler Youth. It was printed in Berlin around 1941 by the press and propaganda office of the Reich Youth Leadership, the agency that ran the organization. Boys of ten entered the Deutsches Jungvolk, the HJ's junior division, so the campaign targeted children at the point of first entry. By then membership had been made compulsory for German youth, and the poster shows how the state used wartime propaganda to bring the youngest children into its organizations.
