Everything for the Fatherland! Everything for freedom!" is the slogan that sets this 1918 color lithograph apart, a late-war call to arms printed in Dresden. By that year Germany was facing heavy casualties and growing shortages at home, and the Kunstanstalt Römmler & Jonas, a commercial lithographic firm, produced posters like this to encourage enlistment and public support for the army. The catalog headings point to recruiting and military life, with the postwar aftermath also noted, though the record does not describe the figures in detail. Color lithography was a major propaganda medium for all the belligerent nations during the First World War.
