A half-length, front-facing portrait of James M. Curley, Jr., the son of Boston politician James Michael Curley, dated around January 22, 1931. The younger Curley's image circulated in the years when his father was a dominant figure in Boston politics, having served as mayor in the early 1930s. The print was registered with the U.S. Copyright Office, which is why a copy survives in the Library of Congress's Prints and Photographs Division. It offers a direct, unposed view of a man whose name was closely tied to one of the city's best-known political families.
