Taken at the Yalta Conference in February 1945, this Signal Corps photograph catches Franklin D. Roosevelt in close conversation with Winston Churchill, the two Allied leaders meeting on the Crimean coast with Joseph Stalin to plan the end of the war in Europe. The caption's remark about Roosevelt's strain is worth noticing, since he was visibly ill and would die only weeks later, in April 1945. The picture offers a rare, informal look at a meeting usually seen only in formal group portraits.
