The New Hampshire State House in Concord, a granite capitol, is the subject here, recorded on an 8 by 10 inch glass negative made sometime between 1900 and 1910. The building dates to the years after 1816 and is among the oldest state capitols still used by its legislature. The Detroit Publishing Company, based in Michigan, produced thousands of travel views of American landmarks, and its large-format plates captured architectural detail that smaller cameras often missed. The negative's markings show it passed through the company's files before it was given to the State Historical Society of Colorado in 1949.
