Saint Aubin, a harbor village on the south coast of Jersey, is the subject here, with its bay and waterfront set apart from the island's better-known sights. The picture is a photochrom, a process from Zürich that built up color from several lithographic stones, and the Detroit Publishing Company sold it in America as part of its catalog of views. The catalog filed Jersey under England, though the island is a Crown dependency off the coast of France. Color views like this were popular with travelers in the 1890s.
