The Louisiana Purchase Exposition, held in St. Louis in 1904, drew visitors from across the country and the world to a site of more than 1,200 acres in Forest Park. This panorama captures the scale of the fairgrounds, with its grand exhibition halls, landscaped grounds, and the crowds moving between them. The fair marked the centennial of the Louisiana Purchase and showcased new technology, industry, and the cultures of many nations, including the Olympic Games held in conjunction with it. Views like this one remain a valuable record of how America presented itself at the turn of the twentieth century.
