Announcing a survey of work by artists in the Sculpture Division of the New York Federal Art Project, this 1936 silkscreen poster was produced under the Works Progress Administration, which employed artists during the Depression. Its listed sponsors include the Indian Arts and Crafts Board, a federal body created in 1935 to promote Native American arts, a pairing that hints at the range of work the exhibition was meant to show. Silkscreen was a relatively inexpensive method that allowed bold, flat color in large runs, which helped WPA posters reach wide audiences in public spaces.
